With economists predicting better 2013 for Colo., builders on 36 see jobs arrive

When Sierra Nevada Corp. — aerospace company headquartered near Reno but with operations in Louisville — announced a $10 million contract last week to help NASA standardize commercial space transportation systems, McStain Neighborhoods was already seeing Sierra Nevada employees who were arriving at its doorstep.

McStain, a name that’s built in Boulder County for 46 years, is deep into its final phase at Indian Peaks South, the end of a master plan it began back in the early 1990s. At 95th and Baseline, employees arriving from companies along the U.S. 36 Turnpike corridor find homes that have prices starting in the $270s — way below what comparable space goes for ten minutes west in Boulder proper.
