Along the Boulder Turnpike, builders and agents are seeing a higher-speed market

It will be a few more years before crews finish widening U.S. 36 between Denver and Boulder, but builders and real estate agents who work the Boulder Turnpike corridor are already pedal-to-the-metal this year — seeing a pace of home sales that suggests job growth.

Last month, petroleum giant Phillips 66 announced it had backed off from a planned renewable energy research center, that had promised to bring 7,000 new jobs along 36. But three miles away, Ryland Homes was taking its fifth contract in October, normally a slower month, at Coal Creek Village, an infill neighborhood in Lafayette near the new Exempla medical center.
